HOD's Message

Dr. Archana-Belge
Associate Professor, HOD
MME is an essential branch for the growth of industries in automation and manufacturing. This branch was established in 2021-22 at TCET. The branch deals with major subjects including robotics, control systems, automation, and electro-mechanical systems. This branch is one of the most important branches of engineering in terms of Industry 4.0. The students would be trained in the integration of electrical, mechanical, and software components to develop products and systems. Nowadays this branch is considered as an interdisciplinary field of engineering. The branch uses techniques of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering branches. Considering the above requirements, TCET has taken the initiative to design a curriculum for this branch. Students would be able to learn all these subjects which are the basic concepts of the industries.
The students would be made very smart giving advanced automation technology in manufacturing and making smart factories. These technological skills would be given to students in TCET. This is the important branch to get the right qualification. The senior faculty members would be able to transform job training and experience through project-based and skills-based learning for all students. Knowledge, education, research, and innovation are the key areas of the development of any branch of engineering. It needs to go hand-in-hand with research for the generation of new knowledge and innovation. The role of technical education is to prepare students for careers in the industry. Hence, it is necessary to create entrepreneurial mindsets and the spirit of innovation among the students.
Entrepreneurship courses and startup incubators are becoming an integral part of technical education. Therefore, students would be trained in critical thinking and risk-taking abilities. More importance is given in TCET to practical applications and hands-on experience. The innovative examination is part of the curriculum to encourage students to improve their ability to understand and deliver the contents in the best way. Through the internship program, students would be able to learn practical issues and real-world experience in the industry. The department is focusing more on internship programs in the curriculum.
The rapid advancements in additive manufacturing, robotics, automation, electronics materials, IoT, etc have brought about a paradigm shift in technical education. The department is integrating these emerging technologies into the curriculum to ensure graduates are conversant with the new advanced technologies. The department is trying to align educational programs with industry trends, and students are trained to be ready for industrial problems. The changing paradigm of technical education emphasizes the need for lifelong learning and continuous professional development.
Value-added courses are introduced in the curriculum to encourage teamwork, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Important training is provided to students to encourage employability skills, soft skills, behavioral skills, and aptitude training. The industry-institute interaction is helpful for learning exchange, establishing shared expectations, and improving the caliber of the students as well as faculty members.
I invite all the students to join the MME course in the first year, and direct second year admission after the diploma. The facilities and resources offered by the department will surely enhance the student's talent and this will eventually contribute to their ideas for the further growth of the nation.
